More Than Beads: Understanding the “Shadow of God” in Our Craft

In a world full of spiritual seeking, many are drawn to beautiful objects that connect them to their faith. But what truly makes a piece of sacred jewelry a tool for prayer rather than a simple “charm” or “amulet”? At Bezalel’s Touch, we believe the answer lies in understanding the source of all things.

The Creator of All Elements

Before a stone is ever shaped by a craftsman, it is formed by the hand of the Father. Scripture tells us that God formed the world and everything in it.

  • Nehemiah 9:6: “You alone are the Lord. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything.”
  • Psalm 24:1: “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.”

Because everything in the world was created by Him, we view natural gems and metals as “declarations” of His handiwork—elements designed with specific properties and beauty intended to point us back to Him.

Stones as Biblical Memorials

Throughout Scripture, rocks and stones serve as prominent symbols of stability, memory, and God’s presence. They are never treated as magical batteries, but as “points of contact” to anchor our faith.

  • The Rock of Salvation: God is frequently described as our Rock, a foundation that cannot be moved. Psalm 18:2 says, “The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge.”
  • The Ebenezers (Stones of Help): After a great victory, the prophet Samuel took a stone and named it Ebenezer, saying, “Thus far the Lord has helped us” (1 Samuel 7:12). It was a physical reminder of God’s intervention.
  • The Living Stones: In 1 Peter 2:5, we are told that we ourselves are “like living stones… being built into a spiritual house.”

Amulet vs. Memorial: Where Does the Power Reside?

There is a vital distinction between an “amulet” and a biblical “memorial.” It is the difference between placing faith in an object and using an object to focus your faith on God.

  • The Amulet: An object believed to possess its own inherent power to bring luck or ward off evil. The Bible warns against these in Ezekiel 13:18-21, as they divert our gaze from the Provider to the provision.
  • The Memorial: As seen in Joshua 4:6-7, stones were used to tell a story. When future generations asked, “What do these stones mean?” the memorial served as a bridge to share God’s faithfulness.

The Heart of an Intercessor

As a mother of three and a “Grammy” to six beautiful grandchildren, I understand the “passions and pains” of a praying heart. When my children are sick or searching for their path, I have learned that while I cannot control their journey, I can impart wisdom, care, and love through the Father.

Every piece is crafted in a state of intersensory prayer. I personally pray over them while they are being made and again specifically for you before they are shipped.

Working in the Shadow

Like our namesake, Bezalel; the first artisan described as being “filled with the Spirit of God”, we strive to merge practical craftsmanship with spiritual devotion. These are not charms to protect you; they are memorials to remind you that you already stand in the shadow of the Almighty.
